Decorating with Vintage Inspiration-Hilary Robertson Style

Stylist and shop owner Hillary Robertson knows how to make vintage sing.  Her wonderful brownstone, recently featured in the NY Times, is located in the Ft. Green section of Brooklyn. The carefully curated collection showcases her eclectic palette, and illustrates how flea market finds can become treasures in talented hands.

The magic of chalkboard paint is dramatic in the dining room, and the white accessories are beautifully contrasted against the color.

Bringing out the best in old pieces can be as simple as taking a staple gun, grey paint and shoe polish to chairs.  Vintage drawings become a gallery.

Some of us are just born collectors.  Organizing in one location on this vintage industrial rack allows the stylist’s props to read as a collection and keeps it tidy.  The objects are much more powerful in mass then they would be on their own.
I am anxious to pay a visit to Mrs. Robertson, the recently opened shop with partner Gabriela de la Vega.  Let me know if you have a chance to stop in and get inspired in person to decorate with flea market and vintage treasures.
