Those of us lucky enough to be in New England {would I have ever said that this winter-I think not!} can take off at a moments notice on the weekend for any of the many hotspots surrounding the Boston area. When the sun is shining and blooms are bursting, its a sure sign that the more than 3 million daffodils planted in Nantucket are in their prime. Rumor has it that Mother Nature is supposed to give Bostonians the gift of beautiful skies in the days ahead, a perfect excuse to get Daffy and put on your yellow dancing shoes!
This weekend, opening up the season, is the Annual Daffodil Festival. The charming parade, featuring over 100 antique cars and trucks winds its way thru town and heads out to ‘Sconset for the daffodil bedazzled tailgate picnic. Drivers dressed in period costumes and cars covered in creative forms of the flower, are all shining up their cupcakes and chrome to compete for the bragging rights to the coveted first place.
Its a really fun, family oriented weekend in one of my most favorite places on earth!
